Supply Chain Management Major

The supply chain management major offers a comprehensive degree in the management of supply chains and operations. This program prepares students to manage and coordinate the flows of material, funds, and information ranging from procurement and purchasing through internal allocation of resources to operating units, to the handling and delivery of output.

Students will study purchasing, capacity management, inventory control, storage and handling, just-in-time manufacturing, logistics planning, shipping and delivery management, transportation, quality control, resource estimation and allocation

Curriculum

The supply chain management major assists students in acquiring the knowledge and skills needed to manage the flow of goods and services from raw materials to consumer. Students will be equipped with courses related to sustainability, logistics, purchasing, lean manufacturing, service systems, and project management.

The supply chain management major consists of 120 credit hours.

  • MGT 3220 – Purchasing and Supply Management
  • MGT 3270 – Sustainable Supply Chain Management
  • MKT 4040 – Logistics and Supply Chain Management
  • MGT 4250 – Supply Chain Risk Management and Global Supply Chain
  • MKT 2200 – Establishing Export Firms
  • MGT 4250 – Lean Manufacturing and Service Systems
  • MGT 3250 – Project Management (elective)
  • MKT 4100 – Sustainability Management (elective)

    The supply chain management major is aimed at students interested in careers in operations, logistics, purchasing/procurement, and exporting. 

    Example career / job titles include: Logistics Manager, Operations Manager, Procurement Sourcing Specialist, Project Manager, Supply Chain Project Specialist, Export Agent, Supply Chain Analyst

Get Hands-On Experience

  • Ohio Export Internship Program


    Connect coursework in establishing export processes with a paid internship with a small or medium company in the state of Ohio.

  • Global Consulting Program


    Get on-the-field experience through our Global Consulting Program, which provides students from all majors with opportunities to learn about the global business environment. You'll work as part of a cross-culture consulting team to solve real business problems abroad. Students work on projects at OHIO and then travel to international locations for internships and additional opportunities.
