Graduation Requirements

Complete a minimum of 30 credit hours as follows:

Required Courses

Complete the following courses for a total of 24 credit hours:

  • COED 5213 - Dynamics of Skill Acquisition
  • COED 6110 - Foundations of Coaching I
  • COED 6120 - Management and Leadership in Sport
  • COED 6140 - Psychology of Coaching
  • COED 6150 - Injury Prevention & Risk Management
  • COED 6160 - Performance and Conditioning for Athletic Coaches
  • COED 6170 - Ethics and Diversity in Athletic Coaching
  • COED 6330 - Analysis of Sport Performance for Coaches

Elective Courses

Complete at least two of the following courses, for a minimum of 6 hours:

  • COED 5212 - Coaching the Elite Athlete
  • COED 5305 - Concepts & Issues in Coaching Pedagogy
  • COED 6240 - Social Dynamics in Sports Coaching

Elective courses are offered based on faculty expertise and availability, and students will receive guidance on which courses to take.

Culminating Experience

Students must successfully complete a coaching portfolio to meet the capstone requirement for the online Master’s in Coaching Education degree. The portfolio is completed during the student’s final Fall or Spring semester, depending on their planned graduation term.
