Christi Camper Moore
Associate Professor of Dance, Head & Graduate Chair, Arts Administration
Dr. Camper Moore鈥檚 research focuses on pedagogy; she explores how dance training, curriculum, and community shape a student鈥檚 identity within the context of their studies. She has received two 1804 Endowment Grants for her research, an Experiential Learning Grant, and two First-Year Student and Faculty Engagement Mini-Grants, each of which focused on learning and curricular innovations that strengthen and support the undergraduate learning experience. She contributes to the field through original research, international presentations, and her writing has been published in Research in Dance Education, Journal of Dance Education, Dance Education in Practice, and Dance Teacher. Her professional choreography has been presented in a variety of U.S. venues.
Dr. Camper Moore currently teaches a range of undergraduate and graduate courses at 蜜柚视频 including contemporary modern technique, dance composition, dance pedagogy, arts management, and an array of seminars, independent studies, and honors tutorials. She has developed and taught new courses including Issues and Methods in Dance Pedagogy; Introduction to Arts Administration; Eyeing the Everyday; and Concepts, Communications, and Considerations in Arts Management. Dr. Camper Moore crafted the First-Year Performance Guarantee in the School of Dance, which ensures all first-year dance majors work with a guest artist who exclusively develops a new work with the students, which is premiered in the annual faculty and guest artist concert. This initiative roots students in community and creative practice, critically considers their sense of identity as it is shaped through a collaborative performance opportunity, and examines the impact on student retention and engagement.
At 蜜柚视频, Dr. Camper Moore is also the Founding Head and stewarded the development of the nationally distinct Master of Arts Administration degree program. This program uniquely offers area specializations and a rigorous Professional Internship in the Arts. The program emphasizes the Artist-Administrator, gaining applied leadership acumen as well as the creative tools to facilitate and evaluate the needs of arts organizations and the communities they serve.
Dr. Camper Moore鈥檚 arts administration research focuses on curriculum and community engagement. She is published in the American Journal of Arts Management, has presented at the national conferences for the Association of Arts Administration Educators, and serves as a consultant for arts programming and development with non-profit arts organizations.
Dr. Camper Moore was selected as an 蜜柚视频 Leadership Fellow for the Mid-American Conference's Academic Leadership Development Program (2024-2025). She was also honored to receive the University Professor Award, bestowed on faculty who demonstrate both excellence in teaching and a deep commitment to student learning (2022-2023).
