Jessica Baldwin
Assistant Professor of Instruction, Voice
Jessica Baldwin is a popular music voice specialist, artist coach, and independent performing artist.
She serves on the faculty of Shenandoah University’s CCM Vocal Pedagogy Institute, where she teaches voice educators from around the world. Through her private coaching business, she supports emerging and mid-career artists by integrating voice training, creativity coaching, and project management to help musicians build sustainable, fulfilling careers. She also serves as a support coach with The SpeakEasy Cooperative®, where she helps voice teachers and creative entrepreneurs build aligned, sustainable businesses.
Jessica’s pedagogical contributions include authorship in The Vocal Athlete, 3rd Edition and Action-Based Approaches in Popular Music Education. She is the author of A Singer’s Guide to Finding Your Style & Artistic Voice, a resource designed to help vocalists uncover and refine their unique artistic identities. Her teaching philosophy is rooted in creative autonomy, trauma-informed pedagogy, and student-centered learning.
As a performer, Jessica’s work spans jazz, soul, and chamber pop. She wrote, arranged, and produced her debut album, ANIMA, which was successfully crowdfunded through Kickstarter. She was a two-time quarterfinalist in the American Traditions Vocal Competition, a two-time Ohio Music Award winner, and has been featured on American Public Television’s Songs at the Center. She also appeared on PBS' United in Song with Rhonda Vincent and NPR’s Mountain Stage with the project The Fields of Gettysburg.
