Hall Information

Winter break housing will be offered in designated open halls. Students who need to remain on campus but do not live in one of these halls will be assigned a temporary space for the duration of the break.

To ensure spaces are cleaned prior to students arriving for the spring semester, winter break residents who will be residing on campus for spring 2026 will be transitioned to their permanent spring assignment on Tuesday, January 6.

If a student staying over the break period needs to relocate to a temporary housing assignment, the new assignment and check-in instructions will be communicated by Wednesday, December 10 to their OHIO email account.

Dates

Winter Break housing, or interim housing, is available from Saturday, December 13 through Thursday, January 8.

Application Details

The Winter Break Housing Application will open on October 31 and is required to reside on campus during the winter break period.

To complete the application, students can visit their page, click on the ‘Contracts & Applications’ tab, and select Winter Break Housing Application.

Cancellation Information

If a student makes a reservation for interim housing over winter break, and no longer needs housing, the student needs to email housing@ohio.edu to cancel.

Please note, the university, including the Office of Housing and Residence Life is closed Thursday, December 25 through Sunday, January 4 and will reopen at 8 a.m. on Monday, January 5.

Cost

The cost for winter break housing is $30/night, $125/week, or $400/month and will be charged directly to the student's account after the conclusion of the winter break period.

Food Service and Options

The last meal served on the fall meal plan will be dinner on Friday, December 12. Learn about the dining venue operational hours over the winter break period.

Mail

Mail Services may have limited to no operation after fall semester closing and the winter break period.
