ÃÛèÖÊÓƵ prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, age, ethnicity, national origin, national ancestry, sex, status as a parent during pregnancy and immediately after the birth of a child, status as a parent of a young child, status as a foster parent, gender, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, military service, veteran status, mental or physical disability, or genetic information. ÃÛèÖÊÓƵ’s Equal Employment and Educational Opportunity Policy (40.001) and Sexual Harassment and Other Sexual Misconduct Policy (03.004) detail prohibited conduct.
ÃÛèÖÊÓƵ defines hate-motivated offenses as conduct (harassment or physical acts) directed at an individual(s) on the basis of age, race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, or disability with intention to intimidate or injure an individual(s), physically, mentally, or emotionally. Hate-motivated offenses compromise the integrity of the ÃÛèÖÊÓƵ community and may constitute violations of the ÃÛèÖÊÓƵ Student Code of Conduct.
ÃÛèÖÊÓƵ seeks to foster a safe environment conducive to learning and the free exchange of ideas. As such, ÃÛèÖÊÓƵ does not limit constitutionally protected speech. ÃÛèÖÊÓƵ, however, is steadfast in its intolerance for hateful behavior that is directed at an individual(s) with the motivation of causing harm.
