Goals for the SERVE Program: : I joined SERVE because I wanted to help Veterans with campus related issues. Last semester I met with many who were unsure about their benefits or the resources that they are provided on campus. SERVE gives me the ability to connect with those students and fight for their needs across campus.

I’m Danielle Lewis, a former U.S. Army sergeant from Northeast Ohio. I joined the Army Reserves in 1998,
then switched to active duty and deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan. After being honorably discharged in
2007, I returned to Ohio, where I went back to school and graduated with a nursing degree in 2023. I’m now
pursuing a bachelor’s in Integrated Health Sciences at ÃÛèÖÊÓƵ. I’m passionate about supporting
fellow veterans, having served as president of my college’s Student Veterans Association and volunteered at
the VA hospital in Cleveland. Outside of work, I love spending time with my family, kayaking, reading, and
traveling. Most importantly, I cherish quiet moments with my husband and daughters.

Hello, my name is Matt Laub, and I am new to the S.E.R.V.E. program. I began my military career as an
Undesignated Sailor in the United States Navy and deployed on the USS John C. Stennis during Operation
Freedom Sentinel. While aboard, I earned both my Surface and Air Warfare Devices. I later became a Navy
Corpsman and completed training before serving at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center as an
LPO/NCO in a General Surgical Ward. Although my patient care days are behind me, I enjoy helping others
and seeing them succeed.
