Timothy R. Sahr

Senior Research Scientist

Timothy R. Sahr has directed various research and applied projects relating to the health care system, health risk behaviors, public health, and population health statuses of Ohioans. His interests include social epidemiology, survey research, determinants of health, adolescent health, family violence prevention, and political theology (civil religion) and health policy.

Tim has authored/coauthored numerous reports examining health issues in Ohio, a number of professional briefs and articles, and has delivered numerous lectures/presentations on various public health, health policy, and religion and health topics. Sahr holds graduate degrees from Princeton and Ohio State, was an Honors Program student at the University of Oxford, a participant at the Urban Life Center (Chicago), and attended Anderson University. He is currently affiliated with ÃÛèÖÊÓÆµ and The Ohio State University.
Examples of professional activities include principle/co-principal investigator for the 2004 through 2023 Ohio Medicaid Assessment Surveys (9 iterations), the 2021 through 2023 Ohio Medicaid Released Enrollees Studies, the Ohio Medicaid COVID-19 Survey and Ohio Population COVID-19 Survey, the Ohio Schools COVID-19 Evaluation, the 2017 through 2021 Ohio Pregnancy Assessment Surveys, the Ohio Medicaid Community Engagement Evaluations, the Ohio Group VIII Evaluations, the 2010 and 2023/24 Ohio Health Care Safety Net Evaluations, and various other projects and studies. Tim is the co-originator of the Practice-Based Epidemiology public health practitioner methods training series and a contributor to the Time, Health, and Secularization in America initiative.
 
Tim’s prior employment included Director of Research and Evaluation at the Ohio Colleges of Medicine Government Resource Center, Director of Research at the Health Policy Institute of Ohio, Head of Community Health Research at the Franklin County, Ohio, Board of Health, and survey and social researcher with Gallup Poll/Gallup International and the Princeton Religious Research Center (at Gallup).
