The School of International Studies and Languages hosted a Preliminary Southeast Ohio Global Workforce Convening in June 2025, bringing together employers, educators, and economic development leaders.

Key themes included the need for cross-cultural communication, employer-informed curriculum, international talent integration, and stronger pathways for student internships and applied learning.

This ongoing initiative aims to align statewide workforce needs with OHIO’s global strengths in language, culture, and international education.

Ohio is a magnet for foreign direct investment, with over 4,000 foreign-owned businesses from 42 countries, including Japan, Germany, Canada, the UK, and France. In Southeast Ohio alone, 49 foreign-owned companies from 22 countries are growing jobs in advanced manufacturing, logistics, energy, and healthcare.
