Field Practicums
OHIO's hybrid Master of Social Work program is a clinical MSW program focused on preparing students in advanced clinical practice while also providing them with skills transferrable across all practice levels. In their Advanced Clinical Field Practicum, students will engage in diagnostic assessments that address mental health, addiction, and trauma history; provide therapeutic interventions for mental and emotional disorders; complete clinical documentation; and participate in other clinical practice activities.
Our MSW program has established relationships with over 500 agencies nationwide. Students attending the hybrid MSW program will work with the Department of Social Work field faculty to identify appropriate field placement settings in their geographic area.
Students may be eligible to utilize their current employment and employee roles as field practicum hours when tasks and roles can be directly linked to the nine CSWE 2022 Social Work Competencies, behaviors, and levels of practice. Employment-Based Placements are not guaranteed. Students will submit an Employment-Based Field Application for review to determine if the agency and employment meet the criteria for the student’s current practicum level.
