October was an exciting month for cybersecurity at OHIO.

Throughout Cybersecurity Awareness Month, the Information Security Office hosted engaging activities, shared resources and encouraged the community to strengthen its cyber defenses. A big thank you to everyone who participated—you made this month a success.

CyberMania victory

We’re thrilled to announce that OHIO triumphed over Miami University in the CyberMania contest, scoring 1,015 points to Miami’s 616. Your enthusiasm and commitment to cybersecurity best practices helped OHIO secure the win. 

What we learned

As part of CyberMania, the Information Security Office surveyed participants about their cybersecurity awareness. Here are a few key takeaways:

• Confidence is high: Most respondents reported feeling confident in their ability to identify phishing attempts.
• PhishBowl familiarity: Many participants know about phishbowl.ohio.edu, but some indicated they don’t use it regularly.
• Resource gaps: A portion of respondents were unaware of available cybersecurity resources.
