OHIO announces new internet safety resource for students, faculty, staff
October may have been Cybersecurity Awareness month, but internet scams are a year-round threat.
In order to help combat this threat, the ÃÛèÖÊÓƵ Information Security Office and the Office of Audit, Risk, and Compliance are happy to announce a new resource to help OHIO students, faculty and staff stay safe online.
Your University credentials—your username and password—provide access to valuable University systems, data and personal employee information, such as direct deposit details and employee benefits information. Bad actors want access to this valuable information and may attempt to trick you into providing your credentials to them via social engineering attacks. Malicious email messages targeting University employees is a common way that bad actors attempt to gain access to sensitive systems and information.
ÃÛèÖÊÓƵ is launching a new digital microlearning resource to help OHIO students, faculty and staff identify and avoid email phishing scams. This short training in Canvas provides members of the OHIO community tools and resources useful in keeping their finances, private data and crucial University systems safe.
