Classics & Religious Studies Faculty Directory
As Classics scholars and scholars of the world's religions, we place ourselves in the tradition of the Humanities. We thus study the past and other cultures in order to understand the variety of human culture and experience, primarily through the study and analysis of texts, objects, and images. As humanists our grand goal is "to gnôthi seauton," that is, the importance of knowing one's self: Socratic self-knowledge, that will help our students become thoughtful and ethical persons.
