Classics & Religious Studies Giving Opportunities

Thank you for considering a gift to Classics & Religious Studies. The department’s current priorities include:

  • Student scholarships ($1,000 to $2,000 annually, per student)
  • Visiting speaker fund ($4,000 annually)
  • Study abroad assistance ($3,000 to $5,000 per student)
  • An endowed professorship in Jewish Studies ($2,000,000)

General Support

  • – Supports student and faculty activities including travel, research, special guests and other needs.
  • – Provides support for the department’s most pressing needs.
  • – Promotes the study of classical literature in memory of Professor D.J. Evans, who taught Latin and related subjects for 40 years to OHIO.
  • – Promotes the study of Latin and Greek.
  • – Supports the Jewish Studies Certificate program for things like lecturer costs, Jewish Studies experiential learning, and/or study abroad for Jewish Studies Certificate credit.

Student Awards and Scholarships

  • – Scholarship for students who aspire to teach Latin.
  • – Supports students studying abroad as well as rewards students for academic achievement in the study of the humanities.
  • – Scholarship for student majoring in the Classics.
  • – Annual prize for students doing outstanding work in the field of world religions.
  • – Scholarship for classical language majors.

Faculty Enhancements

  • – Supports faculty research and travel.
  • – Enhances the course offerings within the Classics & Religious Studies department by supporting faculty needs.
  • – Endowed Chair in Indian Religion and Philosophy.
